I have a small VB6 test program with two ports, it runs fine on the development PC both in th environment and as an exe. Now I try to create a setup program using Wise 9. It works on some PCs but on others give an error control(0) not found. I dont have a control array in my program, but could it be some dll required for your pop up is missing on some win 7 PCs. On the ones that work I see a small window open and close at the bottom left of the screen. Can you advise the dependencies of the code that generates that window ?

That little window has no special dependencies other than what the component uses anyway.
On one of the PCs where SComm32 does not work try installing a simple vb6 test program that does NOT use SComm32. Maybe just a simple richtextbox showing the text "Hello World". Does that work?
Are you running your installer "As Administrator"?

"control(0) not found"
I have no idea what's causing that. The little popup window isn't using any special dependencies so it's not that causing it.
Try making a very simple vb6 test program that does NOT use SComm32. Maybe just a simple form with a RichTextBox that displays "Hello World". Does that work? or does it also throw the error?
