Installing SComm32 (Visual Basic 6)

When you download SComm32 from our website the Installer will usually appear on your Windows Desktop or Downloads folder where you'll see the installer icon like this:-

Double click the installer icon to install SComm32. You can then start using SComm32 in your projects.

Open your Visual Basic Project and add the SComm32 component to your Toolbox. To do that you open the Project menu and select Components as shown in this next image.

In the components window you select the SComm32 component and you'll see the small COM port tool icon appear in your Toolbox.

NOTE - The image below shows the text for old version 3.2

Current versions show the text something like:-

"Comm - SComm32 (v7) Communications OCX "

You can close the components window and return to your VB project. Click the tool icon and drag an instance of it onto your VB form.

You can now use SComm32 in your project.

Or are you looking for a proper .Net Component ?

Carry on using most of the common and well documented MSComm32 syntax but with a proper .net component allowing you to build x86, x64 and AnyCPU projects using Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010.
